What’s even better than finding the perfect home for you and your loved ones? Drum roll please… DECORATING!
Okay, maybe it’s not everybody’s favorite thing to do, but I know plenty of people love to give their home a refreshing change and try something new.
Here are some of the Top Design Trends for 2016…
It’s truly amazing of how many different types of tiles you have to choose from now. Whether you’re doing a wall, floor, or a small back splash in the kitchen. Last year, people really loved the hexagon but this year it’s time to hit the bricks. Also, another trend this year is fragmented tiles, mixing and matching the shapes makes a unique and beautiful space.
There’s something about taking a little quiet time for yourself and feel the sun shining in the room. This really is something every person should have! Even if you don’t live in a luxury home where a “sunroom” was put in. Find and carve out a little place just for you!
SOFT MODERN DECORATING
I’m sure you’ve noticed modern decorating becoming more and more popular every year. Especially with people leaning more towards energy conservation. Instead of shying away from the “modern” style, you should give it a try. You don’t want your house to look or feel like a laboratory of course, but you can still go with a modern feel and use softer furniture and decorations.
INTEGRATING INDOORS & OUTDOORS
This trend has been pretty fun to watch it grow and more people jump on board with it. These trends include floor-to-ceiling retractable screens, glass walls, stackable walls and much more. Part of the house can open up to the beautiful outdoor porch and pool while the weather is warm and you can still have screens installed that keep bugs out.
INTIMATE OUTDOOR SPACES
Honestly, even though I live in Utah and there are MANY months I can’t sit out on my porch to enjoy the weather, I actually count down to the days until I can. I look for homes that have a place I can make my own little porch sanctuary. This is great if you want to entertain guests, or just cozy up in a big comfy chair alone and enjoy a good book.
I’m not talking about the old barn doors from grandmas. But there are new styles of these doors that can close off certain rooms if you’d like. There are actually very elegantly designed barn doors that look amazing in your home. You’ll get so many compliments on these design trends. It’s unique, yet comfortable and beautiful!
The list could go on and on… but hopefully this gives you a few ideas on what you can do with your new home, or as you begin your spring cleaning you can spruce up a few things in the house.
